- Skip retinol & acidsPause prescription retinoids, glycolic, and salicylic for 3–5 days before — especially for dermaplaning.
- Hold off on shaving / waxingDon't shave or wax the area being treated for 24 hours before your appointment.
- Come with bare skin if you canNo need — Kaitlyn will cleanse — but a clean canvas saves time and lets the good stuff start sooner.
- HydratePlenty of water in the 24 hours before makes for plumper, more responsive skin.
After your facial

- Skip makeup for 24 hoursLet your skin breathe. If you must, use mineral makeup only.
- SPF, every dayEspecially after dermaplaning, peels, or LED. SPF 30+ is non-negotiable for the next 2 weeks.
- No retinol or acids for 48 hoursKeep it gentle. Hydrating cleanser + moisturizer + SPF is all you need.
- Re-book in 4–6 weeksConsistent facials are how skin actually changes. Kaitlyn will help you map a cadence.

How often should I get a facial?
Every 4–6 weeks is the sweet spot — that matches your skin's natural cell turnover and is when results actually compound. For prepping for a wedding or event, book your first facial at least 6 weeks out, never the week of.
I've never had a facial before — what should I expect?
A consult, a cleanse, an exfoliation, extractions if needed, mask, massage, and a finishing routine — about 60 to 90 minutes of relaxed, low-talk pampering. Kaitlyn will walk you through every step so nothing surprises you.
Will my skin be red afterwards?
A little flush is normal for an hour or two — that's the circulation doing its job. Visible redness usually settles within the first evening. Dermaplaning and LED tend to leave you glowing, not blotchy.
What's the difference between a facial and dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a precision exfoliation that removes dead skin and peach fuzz with a sterile blade — you can absolutely add it to any facial, and the Silk Skin Dermaplaning Facial bakes it in. The result is glassy, makeup-ready skin.
Are facials safe if I'm pregnant?
Most are — the Signature Glow and Purifying Back Facial are pregnancy-safe. Skip LED and certain active ingredients; just let Kaitlyn know when you book and she'll tailor the treatment.
Can I wear makeup right after?
We'd rather you didn't — give your skin 24 hours bare if you can, especially after dermaplaning or LED. If you have plans, mineral makeup is fine.
What's your cancellation policy?
Life happens — please give us 24 hours' notice for cancellations or reschedules. No-shows and same-day cancels may be charged 50% of the service to respect everyone's time.
Do you sell skincare I can take home?
Kaitlyn will recommend a simple, realistic routine for your skin — and we stock a small, curated shelf of professional products on-site. No big skincare-aisle pressure, ever.
